KPL to Join Missouri Evergreen in October

By Nick  |  Uncategorized

A new chapter for KPL is upon us as we join Missouri Evergreen, a consortium of over 70+ and ever growing libraries across MO! This exciting venture will maintain KPL as the same community library you love, but expanded with even more resources and items at your fingertips.

During the transition we’ll move to a new ILS (integrated library system) that has handpicked features to make browsing an even better experience for you. You can look forward to:

  • fresh library catalog with better, focused searching capabilities
  • An easy-to-use mobile library app
  • New access to over 4 million items across the MO Evergreen participating libraries.

There will be some minor interruptions to service as we make this transition. Some things to note about this:

  • The catalog and access to your account will be temporarily unavailable on Monday, Oct. 14 through Thursday, Oct. 17. During this time, you will not be able to place holds, browse the catalog, or get a new library card. You will still be able to check out existing holds and items on the shelf with your library card and online resources should still be active.
  • To help our staff with the transition, no items will be due during those 4 days.
  • We will have to reset your catalog pin/password — more information to come about this.
  • Patrons should discontinue use of the old MLC app beginning October 13th.

KPL is dedicated to thinking forward and casting a vision for ways we can better serve you into the future. We take the next step with Missouri Evergreen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Nope! The whole MLC is joining Evergreen, so patrons across the nine libraries won’t lose any of the MLC-wide resources and will simply gain access to more resources statewide. Check out the full list of libraries in Missouri Evergreen here.

During that time, you will be able to check out items that are already on the hold shelf or that you find in the library. However, no items will be due between Oct. 14 and 17, and we ask that you please hold onto your items until the transition is complete on Oct. 18, as we won’t be able to check anything in until the new ILS is up and running.

Yes, your Reading History should migrate to our new ILS. That being said, glitches happen. So if you are concerned about losing your Reading History, consider printing it from your My Account page on our catalog. This must be done prior to October 14th.

No, Saved Lists will be lost in the transition. If you want to preserve your Saved Lists, consider printing/emailing it from your My Account page on our catalog. You will be able to create new Save Lists after the migration.

With the migration to Evergreen, KPL will no longer be offering $7.50 in free printing to KPL cardholders. Instead, we will move to printing the first two pages of a print job at no charge.

Yes, though our app is changing. With our migration to Evergreen, we will be getting a new library app. The old app should no longer be used as of October 13th.

This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the LSTA as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
